I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and an undergraduate student in Biological Sciences (teacher education degree) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), with expected completion in 2027.1. I also hold a technical qualification in Fisheries from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES).
My professional experience includes reviewing AI-assisted language suggestions and product-related content in Brazilian Portuguese, checking semantic accuracy, terminology, grammar, consistency and naturalness. I have worked in the XTM translation environment and with XML-structured content, following project instructions and glossaries while preserving tags and document structure.
Alongside language QA, I develop and review educational and scientific content. My academic training involves research, technical reading, source checking and the adaptation of specialized information for different audiences. This combination is particularly relevant to proofreading, linguistic QA, localization review, MTPE and science- or education-related content.
Grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, vocabulary, register, fluency and naturalness, with attention to Brazilian usage and the intended audience.
Semantic accuracy, terminology, consistency, capitalization, style-guide compliance, error identification and contextual validation.
Human review of machine-generated or AI-assisted language suggestions, checking meaning, omissions, additions, awkward phrasing and terminology against source context.
XTM translation workflows, XML-aware review, glossary use and careful handling of tags and structured text. Microsoft Word and Excel for review and task organization.
Scientific research, source verification, technical reading, terminology checks, educational writing and adaptation of Biology and health-related concepts for non-specialist audiences.
Clarity, coherence, audience-appropriate language, adherence to briefs and the ability to distinguish evidence-based statements from claims that need qualification.
This is an original, synthetic example created to show how I assess meaning in AI-assisted translation. It is not taken from a client project or confidential material.
The modal verb expresses possibility, not a confirmed availability statement.
The future indicative changes the degree of certainty and turns a possibility into a promise.
The translation introduces certainty that is absent from the source. This is a semantic accuracy issue, not merely a stylistic preference.
This version preserves the uncertainty expressed by “may”. Final wording should still follow the client’s terminology and style guide.
Review dimensions demonstrated: source-to-target meaning, modality, terminology, Brazilian Portuguese naturalness and consistency with project instructions.
Bachelor-level teacher education degree in Biological Sciences (Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas), in progress. Expected completion: 2027.1.
Technical qualification in Fisheries (Técnico em Pesca), completed.
Portuguese: Native — Brazilian Portuguese. English: C1 (self-assessed).
Tools and workflows: XTM, XML-structured content, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Canva and digital learning tools.
